Iran Issues Strong Reaction to the EU: All Ambassadors in Tehran Summoned to Foreign Ministry

Iran has reacted sharply to the European Union’s decision to designate the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist organization. The Tehran administration summoned the ambassadors of EU member states to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to condemn the decision, arguing that the move violates international law.

Iran took diplomatic action in response to the European Union’s designation of the IRGC as a terrorist organization. The Iranian government officially summoned the ambassadors of all EU member states accredited in Tehran to the Foreign Ministry to convey its protest.

According to reports in the Iranian press, ambassadors were invited to the Foreign Ministry on Sunday and Monday, where the EU’s decision was strongly criticized during the meetings.

Ambassadors Summoned to the Foreign Ministry

Iranian Foreign Ministry officials emphasized during the meetings that the EU’s decision is contrary to international law and the United Nations Charter. Officials stated that the move would be regarded as an “insult” to the Iranian people.

Iranian officials underlined that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps plays a key role in ensuring the country’s national security. They argued that the EU’s decision undermines regional stability and damages international peace and the principle of the rule of law.

The European Union recently officially announced that it had added the IRGC to its terrorist list. The decision was made public following a meeting of EU foreign ministers.

EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas said in a post on the social media platform X that repression in Iran would not go unpunished. Kallas confirmed that EU foreign ministers had designated the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps as a terrorist organization.
