Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that Russia is sending signals to the United States warning that a possible attack on Iran’s Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) would pose a major danger.
Speaking at today’s press briefing, Peskov responded to questions on current issues.
Addressing a question about the Bushehr NPP, Peskov said, “Of course, relevant signals are being conveyed to the American side. We consider attacks on nuclear facilities to be extremely dangerous actions that could lead to irreversible consequences.”
The Kremlin spokesman recalled that Russia has repeatedly expressed its concerns on the matter, emphasizing that the facility is under the supervision of the United Nations and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
Other key points from Peskov’s statements:
- Russia remains in continuous dialogue with the IAEA regarding the Bushehr nuclear plant.
- The only effective way to ease the catastrophic level of tension in the Middle East is through a political and diplomatic solution.
- Russia believes the situation in the Middle East should have been resolved “yesterday” through political and diplomatic means.
- A visit by North Korean leader Kim Jong-un to Russia could take place as soon as dates are agreed upon through diplomatic channels.
