French President Emmanuel Macron stated that France is ready to host the parties in Paris in order to end the tensions between Israel and Lebanon, saying, “Everything must be done to prevent Lebanon from descending into chaos.”
Macron offered to host the parties in Paris to reduce tensions between Israel and Lebanon and to initiate a diplomatic process, according to a statement he shared on his social media account.
In his statement, Macron noted that he spoke by phone yesterday with Joseph Aoun, Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, and Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, adding:
“Every possible step must be taken to prevent Lebanon from descending into chaos. Hezbollah must immediately halt the dangerous escalation it has caused. Israel must refrain from a large-scale attack and stop mass strikes at a time when hundreds of thousands of people are fleeing the bombings.”
After his discussions with the Lebanese government, Macron said that Lebanon is ready to hold direct talks with Israel, and added:
“Israel should seize this opportunity, begin negotiations, secure a ceasefire, find a sustainable solution, and allow Lebanese authorities to fulfill their obligations regarding Lebanon’s sovereignty. France is ready to help facilitate these talks and host them in Paris.”
