German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said he hopes to establish an open dialogue with Chinese President Xi Jinping during his visit to China from February 24 to 26. A delegation of business representatives will accompany him during the trip.
Merz stated that he expects to engage in open discussions with Xi during his visit to China this week.
According to the German Press Agency (DPA), Merz said:
“I hope we will have the opportunity to establish an open dialogue. I simply want to try to understand the president. At the same time, I would like to explain our position, my personal stance in Germany and in Europe, my perspective on certain global developments, and what we might potentially achieve together.”
Merz’s visit to China is scheduled to take place between February 24 and 26. He will be accompanied by a delegation of business leaders.
