Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum said that Mexico will continue sending oil to Cuba, which is under a U.S. embargo. Meanwhile, Canada’s Governor General Mary Simon, appointed by the British Crown, visited Mexico yesterday and met with Sheinbaum.
Speaking at a daily press briefing at Mexico’s National Palace, President Claudia Sheinbaum expressed support for Cuba, which is under a U.S. embargo and has seen its energy supplies from Venezuela cut off.
Sheinbaum stated, “We are always ready to support Cuba with oil and humanitarian assistance. If Mexico can help create better conditions for Cuba, we will always be there. This is a relationship established with the Cuban people, who are living under very difficult conditions.”
Recalling that Mexico’s foreign policy is based on principles of fraternity, Sheinbaum added, “This is not against our own people, because the amount sent is really very small. Only a very small portion of what is produced is being sent, but it is support based on solidarity.”
Meanwhile, a tanker carrying approximately 86,000 barrels of fuel from Mexico arrived in Havana Bay, the capital of Cuba.
