Commenting on tensions with the United States, Iranian President Pezeshkian stated that they do not seek war, but would not bow down if an imposition were forced upon them.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian made remarks during a meeting with representatives of civil society in Lorestan province.
Pezeshkian said that the United States seeks to seize the natural resources of various countries and emphasized that Washington’s concern about democracy in Iran is merely a deception.
According to Iran’s official news agency IRNA, Pezeshkian expressed their stance against war in the following words:
“The United States openly stated that it wants to take control of Venezuela’s oil. Likewise, it maintains a similar attitude toward Canada and other countries. We do not want to fight. I believe we must set war aside. However, if an imposition is forced upon us, we will not submit.”
Pezeshkian also stated that society in his country is under significant pressure and has been wounded as a result. He said that intellectuals, sociologists, entrepreneurs, clerics, and leading opinion figures must work together to ease this pressure.
