Qalibaf Rejects U.S. Claim: Broken Promises and Empty Words

Iran’s chief negotiator and Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf has rejected the U.S. claim that Iran’s frozen assets would be used to purchase American goods.

Speaking today, Qalibaf said reports suggesting that Iran would spend its unfrozen assets on U.S. agricultural products were false.

In a post on X, Qalibaf wrote:

“The United States exports only GMO soybeans, broken promises, and empty words.”

What Did the U.S. Side Say?

U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent reiterated comments made by President Donald Trump on Wednesday, insisting that a large portion of Iran’s frozen assets would be used to purchase American food and pharmaceutical products.

Iran, however, maintains that it alone will decide how the funds are spent.
