Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, held talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on diplomatic initiatives underway to de-escalate tensions in the region.
According to a statement from Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Al Thani and Araghchi met in the capital, Doha, as part of the Iranian foreign minister’s visit to Qatar. The meeting focused on ongoing diplomatic efforts to lower tensions in the Middle East and initiatives aimed at strengthening regional stability.
Al Thani welcomed the negotiations being held between the United States and Iran in Muscat, the capital of Oman, expressing hope that the talks would result in a comprehensive agreement that takes into account the interests of all parties.
The statement also noted that the meeting emphasized the importance of stepping up joint efforts to protect the peoples of the region from the negative consequences of new tensions.
