Russia: BRICS Will Not Assist Iran; No Such Obligation in the Agreement

Russia has announced that BRICS will not provide assistance to Iran in its conflict with the United States and Israel.

The Kremlin stated that the BRICS group — which includes countries such as Iran, Russia, and China — does not have any obligation to support the Islamic Republic of Iran in the event of a conflict with the United States and Israel.

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said during a daily press call, “BRICS membership does not предусматри mutual assistance obligations in the event of a military attack.”

Peskov also emphasized that the organization has not yet held any consultations regarding the escalating tensions surrounding Iran and that BRICS promotes cooperation in areas other than the military sphere.
