Expressing concern over the escalation between Afghanistan and Pakistan, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova called on both sides to refrain from dangerous confrontation.
Zakharova подчеркed that Afghanistan and Pakistan are friendly countries to Russia and invited them to resolve their differences at the negotiating table.
In a written statement, she said: “We are concerned about the rapid escalation of armed clashes between the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, involving regular army units, air forces, and heavy weapons. Casualties have been reported on both sides, including civilians.”
The Russian diplomat added: “We call on our friendly countries, Afghanistan and Pakistan, to abandon this dangerous conflict and return to the negotiating table in order to resolve all differences through political and diplomatic means.”
