Sergey Ryabkov: BRICS Is Creating Alternatives to Anything the U.S. Can Shut Down “With the Push of a Button”

Ryabkov stated that BRICS is aware of the risks posed by pressure originating from the United States, noting that there is no guarantee that systems shut down by Washington would be restored.

In remarks to Russian media, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov said that BRICS will continue to build alternative structures to anything the United States can shut down “with the push of a button.”

“No one underestimates the risks posed by U.S. policy, sanctions, and tariff pressure,” the Russian diplomat said, continuing:

However, this does not mean that everyone is ready to bow to pressure and accept dictates in practice. BRICS was established precisely to provide an alternative to anything that, as we have seen before, can be shut down with the push of a button.

Emphasizing that there is “no guarantee” that closed systems would be reopened, Ryabkov added:

What matters is that we are seeking and finding solutions to the problems created for our work by this increasingly toxic international environment. This applies both to BRICS and to countries that share similar trends but are not BRICS members, and that benefit from the resources offered by BRICS. These include partner countries and others.

“At this point, digital methods and systems are coming to the forefront. Of course, this involves national currencies and conducting all transactions in national currencies,” Ryabkov concluded.
