Shoigu: Possible Strike on Kyiv Could Happen ‘At Any Moment’

Russian Security Council Secretary Sergey Shoigu stated that the Foreign Ministry’s call for foreign ambassadors to leave Kyiv was made “completely seriously and deliberately,” adding that a possible strike on Kyiv could occur at any moment.

Speaking to journalists at the International Security Forum, Russian Security Council Secretary Sergey Shoigu commented on the Russian Foreign Ministry’s warning urging ambassadors of Western countries to leave Kyiv, saying that a possible attack on the Ukrainian capital could happen at any time.

Shoigu stated that Russia’s actions are being carried out openly and transparently, saying:

“In my opinion, all of our steps are visible. We show them, and moreover, we warn in advance about some of our actions. In this context, the warning for ambassadors to leave Kyiv was made completely seriously and consciously, because in any case, a strike could happen at any moment.”

On Monday, the Russian Foreign Ministry stated that the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ attack on a college in Starobilsk had become “the last straw.” The ministry announced that the Russian Armed Forces would begin systematic strikes against Ukraine’s defense industry facilities, as well as “decision-making centers” and command posts in Kyiv.

The ministry also called on foreign citizens and diplomatic mission personnel to leave Kyiv as soon as possible.
