“Strong reaction from Russia’s Foreign Ministry to the U.S. and Israel: Attack on nuclear facility in Iran is a violation of international law”

Russia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemned the attack carried out by the United States and Israel on the nuclear facility in Iran’s Natanz city. Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova emphasized that the attack constitutes a clear violation of international law.

Zakharova, spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, stated that the strike on the uranium enrichment facility in Natanz by the U.S. and Israel clearly violated United Nations and IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency) agreements, as well as relevant UN Security Council resolutions. She also warned that military actions targeting nuclear facilities carry serious radiological and environmental risks.

In a statement, the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran announced that U.S. and Israeli military elements had targeted the uranium enrichment complex in Natanz. The organization reported that no radioactive leakage or radiation-related contamination had been detected following the attack.

In her remarks published on the official website of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Zakharova said: “This is a reckless violation of international law, of UN and IAEA agreements, of relevant UN Security Council resolutions, and of the decisions of the Agency’s General Conference.”

The Russian diplomat pointed out that any military attack on nuclear facilities is extremely dangerous due to its potential radiological and environmental consequences. Zakharova also called on international organizations to assess the incident in an impartial and objective manner.

She noted that this was not the first attempt targeting the Natanz facility, recalling that Iranian authorities had previously announced two separate attacks on the same site on March 1. The Iranian side had also stated that no radiation leaks or environmental contamination were detected in those earlier incidents.
