UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres did not receive an invitation from U.S. President Donald Trump to join the U.S.-led Gaza “Peace Council.”
Speaking at a daily press briefing, Guterres’ spokesperson Farhan Haq said, “I am not aware of any communication that we have received on this matter. We welcomed the ceasefire in Gaza and measures to support it, including the Peace Council, and we will continue to work with all parties on the ground to ensure that the ceasefire is maintained.”
Who Was Invited?
Trump invited a large number of world leaders to participate in the “Peace Council” initiative, including the leaders of Russia, Belarus, Israel, Brazil, Argentina, Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Hungary, Greece, Finland, Türkiye, and Uzbekistan.
