It has been reported that U.S. President Donald Trump is evaluating options to strike Iran following the failure of nuclear deal negotiations.
According to a report by CNN, citing sources familiar with the matter, U.S. President Donald Trump is considering launching a major attack on Iran after ongoing nuclear talks failed to yield results.
The report stated that “Trump is weighing a new large-scale attack on Iran after preliminary talks between Washington and Tehran aimed at limiting Iran’s nuclear program and ballistic missile production produced no outcome.”
Sources said that the options currently under consideration by Trump include airstrikes targeting Iranian leaders and security personnel, as well as nuclear facilities and government buildings.
However, it was noted that the U.S. president has not yet made a final decision and believes that the arrival of an assault group previously deployed to the region would provide him with more military options.
According to sources, there has been no significant direct contact between the two sides in recent days following Trump’s threats against Iran.
In the context of military intervention threats, the United States is reported to have set preconditions for talks with Iranian officials. These reportedly include the complete halt of uranium enrichment, the imposition of new restrictions on Iran’s ballistic missile program, and the termination of all support for Iran-backed forces in the region.
Previously, U.S. media reported, citing sources, that no progress had been made in talks held last week aimed at reducing tensions with Iran. Tehran was said to continue refusing to comply with Trump’s demands.
On Wednesday, January 28, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that a large “naval force” was moving toward Iran. Trump threatened Iran with an even more devastating attack than the incidents that occurred in June, calling for those events “not to be repeated.”
