The results of the Russian Armed Forces’ large-scale retaliatory strike against military infrastructure in Kyiv have been reported to President Vladimir Putin. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stressed that Russia’s security would be guaranteed under all circumstances in response to Europe’s military escalation.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces Valery Gerasimov had briefed President Vladimir Putin on the outcome of the large-scale retaliatory strike targeting military facilities in Kyiv and other populated areas.
Speaking at a press briefing, Peskov emphasized the scope of the operation, saying, “These strikes were carried out exclusively against military or military-related targets, without exception.”
He added that Russia would continue increasing pressure on what he referred to as the “Kyiv regime” and would achieve its stated objectives.
‘Europe Is Focused on Escalation’
Commenting on rising tensions between Europe and Russia, Peskov said European countries were undergoing a clear process of militarization under the pretext of building the European Union’s own defense identity.
Claiming that the EU had committed itself to confronting the Russian Federation, Peskov warned:
“This escalation on the European side is further fueling the already high level of tension on the continent. Naturally, we cannot ignore this. These developments make it necessary for us to plan additional measures to ensure our own security.”
‘Zelenskyy’s Legitimacy Remains in Question’
Peskov also addressed media reports suggesting that elections could be held in Ukraine, saying the Kremlin had not received any official confirmation but was monitoring the reports.
Referring to what Moscow describes as a leadership legitimacy issue in Ukraine, Peskov recalled previous remarks by President Putin and said:
“It should not be forgotten that there are serious legal questions regarding Zelenskyy’s legitimacy.”
Russia’s Security Will Be Guaranteed Under All Circumstances
Peskov said it was natural for different academic and political circles within Russia to debate how the country’s security should be ensured, but underscored the Kremlin’s determination:
“There are those in society who advocate more radical measures and those who favor a more restrained approach. However, no one should doubt one thing: the security and national interests of the Russian Federation will be guaranteed under all circumstances, whatever the cost.”
