Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated that despite positive rhetoric about potential cooperation between Russia and the United States following US President Donald Trump’s return to office, no joint projects between the two countries have actually been implemented.
Speaking in an interview with RT India, Lavrov said that Russia and the US continue to maintain contacts at various levels during the Trump administration, but that the dialogue has not produced any concrete results.
Lavrov said:
“There have been many correct statements about the enormous potential for mutually beneficial projects between Russia and the United States in modern technologies, energy, and other fields. But in practice, nothing is happening.”
Other Key Points from Lavrov’s Statements:
- The world is returning to an era in which all issues are resolved through brute force without respect for international law.
- Ukraine is carrying out provocative attacks on civilian areas inside Russia where there are no military targets.
- The United States is attempting to establish control over Venezuela’s oil cooperation previously conducted with the Russian company Rosneft.
- The Trump administration wants to economically “punish” Russia not as a legacy of Biden’s policies, but through its own direct political will.
- Even if the conflict in the Gulf were to stop immediately, the damage inflicted on the global economy would likely not be recoverable during 2026.
- If a conflict were to erupt in the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait, the global energy sector would suffer immeasurable damage.
