U.S. President Donald Trump made statements to reporters at Andrews Air Force Base. Asked about Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping, Trump said he gets along well with both leaders.
Before boarding his plane for a visit to the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in Connecticut, Trump answered journalists’ questions.
When asked what Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu would do regarding the Iran war, Trump said, “Netanyahu will do whatever I say.”
Trump was also asked, “What do you think about Russian President Vladimir Putin’s visit to China?” He responded:
“Very good, I get along well with both of them. I get along with Putin and with Xi.”
‘I’m in no rush’
Asked why reaching an agreement with Iran was taking longer than expected, Trump began listing the durations of past U.S. wars, including those in Afghanistan and Vietnam.
“I’ve only been here for three months, and much of that time has been about securing a ceasefire,” Trump said, adding, “We’re going to give this a chance. I’m in no rush.”
He later claimed that the United States had “basically taken over” Iran.
