Kremlin: Ukraine’s Attempt to Strike ‘Russkaya’ Compressor Station Is Reckless

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said Ukraine’s attempt to attack the Russkaya Compressor Station, which plays a key role in ensuring the energy security of several countries, was “reckless.”

Speaking at a press briefing today, Peskov answered questions regarding current developments.

Responding to a question about the Ukrainian army’s overnight attack attempt on the Russkaya compressor station located in Russia’s Krasnodar Krai, which enables the land-based operation of the TurkStream, Peskov said:

“This is a land-based compressor station that ensures gas deliveries via the southern route. This is another attack on an international pipeline that provides energy security for Türkiye and many other countries. These are completely reckless actions by the Kyiv regime.”

Other key statements from Peskov’s briefing:

  • The idea of putting pressure on Russia is absurd.

  • Kyiv continues its consistent stance of obstructing the peace process.

  • Russia is continuing its special military operation while also remaining open to seeking ways for a peaceful settlement in Ukraine.

  • Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund, will return to the country today and brief Russian President Vladimir Putin on his meetings in the United States.

  • It is still too early to speak about effective cooperation between Russia and the United States in the energy sector; negotiations are ongoing.

  • Cooperation between Russia and the United States in energy markets could help stabilize global markets.

  • Russia maintains a consistent position in favor of shifting the Iran crisis toward political and diplomatic solutions.
