Meloni Begins Gulf Tour in Jeddah

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has started her Gulf tour in Jeddah, holding talks with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on rising regional tensions.

Meloni arrived in Saudi Arabia as the first stop of her previously undisclosed Gulf tour, which also includes Qatar and the United Arab Emirates.

During her meeting in Jeddah with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, discussions focused on escalating military tensions in the region following the war involving the United States and Israel against Iran. The leaders also addressed the implications of the conflict on international freedom of navigation and the global economy, as well as risks to energy supply security. It was reported that both sides exchanged views on joint efforts to strengthen stability in the Gulf region.

According to sources from the Italian Prime Minister’s Office, Meloni’s tour will continue in Qatar and the United Arab Emirates. Her upcoming meetings are expected to focus on overcoming disruptions in the energy supply chain and exploring alternative energy cooperation with relevant officials.
