China Issues Strong Warning to the United States: Stop Attacks on Nuclear Facilities

China called on the United States to halt attacks on peaceful nuclear facilities, emphasizing that such actions undermine the global nuclear order.

China urged the United States to stop targeting civilian nuclear facilities. The statement reportedly came after Beijing submitted its report under the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun stated that the United States must correct its actions targeting facilities belonging to non-nuclear-weapon states.

Emphasis on Nuclear Tensions

In the report presented by Beijing, it was noted that the United States should fulfill its responsibilities regarding nuclear disarmament. It also called for halting the expansion of alliances involving “nuclear sharing.”

China also argued that nuclear submarine cooperation under the AUKUS agreement could increase proliferation risks.

Guo Jiakun was reported as saying, “All parties should reaffirm their commitment to maintaining global strategic stability.”

Call for Diplomacy

The report stressed that political and diplomatic methods, rather than military ones, should be preferred to resolve nuclear crises. It also emphasized that developing countries’ right to use nuclear energy for peaceful purposes must be protected.

China stated that it follows a “no first use” policy and maintains its nuclear capacity at a minimum level.
