German Chancellor Friedrich Merz made striking remarks regarding the war in Iran. Describing U.S. President Donald Trump as “without a strategy,” Merz said that the leadership in Tehran is humiliating Americans.
Chancellor Friedrich Merz claimed that the United States has been “humiliated by Tehran” in the negotiations it has been conducting with Iran. He argued that the Trump administration has remained in the background during the negotiation process with Iran.
NOTABLE PRAISE FOR IRAN
Speaking to students in Marsberg, Merz stated that Iranian negotiators have managed the process effectively, saying: “The Iranians are clearly very skilled negotiators—or rather, very skilled at not negotiating; they manage to ensure that Americans go to Islamabad and return without achieving any results.”
Merz added, “An entire country is being humiliated by the Iranian leadership, especially by the Revolutionary Guards. I hope this comes to an end as soon as possible.”
“TRUMP ENTERED THE WAR WITHOUT A STRATEGY”
Launching harsh criticism against President Trump, Merz said: “Mr. Trump clearly entered this war without any strategy. This makes the situation even more complicated—especially since the Iranians negotiate very skillfully, or very skillfully avoid negotiating.”
The German Chancellor added, “An entire nation is being humiliated by the Iranian state leadership, particularly by the so-called Revolutionary Guards.”
TRUMP HAD SAID, ‘WE HOLD ALL THE CARDS’
A day earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump, in an interview with the U.S.-based television channel Fox News, said, “We hold all the cards,” adding that Iran could reach out if it wanted to engage in talks.
It was also reported that, as part of the diplomatic process conducted by the Trump administration for indirect talks with Iran, a planned visit by U.S. negotiators to Pakistan’s capital, Islamabad, was canceled, and that no progress had been made in talks held two weeks earlier.
