Russian Special Representative Kirill Dmitriyev stated that the energy crisis expected to hit the European Union and the United Kingdom in the near future will make negotiations between Europe and Russia inevitable.
Kirill Dmitriyev, CEO of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) and Special Representative of the Russian President for Investment and Economic Cooperation with Foreign Countries, commented on Finnish President Alexander Stubb’s recent remarks advocating direct negotiations with Russia in a post on his X account.
“Finnish President Stubb believes that America’s policy toward Russia and Ukraine does not serve Europe’s interests and that the time has come to begin negotiations with Russia. The energy crisis that is about to strike the EU and the UK makes this inevitable,” Dmitriyev wrote.
Earlier, Finnish President Alexander Stubb had called for direct negotiations with Russia, arguing that U.S. policy toward Russia and Ukraine was not aligned with Europe’s interests.
