Putin: Russia Must Independently Produce Critically Important Products

Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that Russia must independently produce critically important products, emphasizing that all of today’s challenges have proven the necessity of doing so.

Putin made the remarks while speaking at the congress of the Russian Engineering Union in Moscow.

“Life itself and the challenges we face have proven the correctness of the thesis that we must independently produce critical products,” the Russian leader said.

Putin stressed that despite sanctions, Russia’s machine manufacturing sector has managed to secure new positions in both domestic and international markets, adding that the sector has grown by 12 percent compared to pre-sanctions levels.

“Russian machine manufacturers are doing everything possible to ensure reliable supplies for the Armed Forces,” Putin said, while also expressing special gratitude to employees of defense industry enterprises.

Putin underlined that the time required in the defense industry — from the idea stage to the final product — must be shortened.

“We do not intend to isolate ourselves while strengthening our technological sovereignty. On the contrary, we intend to establish and expand mutually beneficial alliances with other states and support initiatives by foreign partners using Russian machinery, equipment, and technological platforms. The combination of the intellectual and resource potential of different countries on the basis of mutual respect for interests will, as I mentioned earlier, create additional opportunities for domestic scientific research, industrial enterprises, and the service sector.”

Emphasizing that “domestic machine production must become stronger, more resilient, and more efficient,” Putin noted that Russia has chosen to create its own technologies rather than copy others.
