U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio claimed that Cuba had accepted a proposed $100 million U.S. humanitarian aid package to be distributed through the Catholic Church.
In a statement, Rubio said that Cuba had allegedly agreed to Washington’s offer to provide $100 million in humanitarian assistance to the island nation through the Catholic Church.
When asked whether the U.S. was concerned about Havana potentially rejecting the offer, Rubio responded:
“They say they accepted it. We’ll see if that’s really the case, because the issue is this: we are not going to provide humanitarian aid that ends up in the hands of their military companies [GAESA].”
