Russian Foreign Ministry: NATO and the EU Are Preparing for a Conflict with Russia by 2030

Russia’s Foreign Ministry has stated that NATO and the European Union (EU) are making concrete preparations for a potential military confrontation with Russia around the year 2030.

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Aleksandr Grushko told Russian media that Moscow is shaping its military planning based on the possibility of aggression from NATO and the EU.

Emphasizing that the ultimate objective of Western alliances is to weaken Russia, Grushko said:

“We proceed from the fact that NATO and EU countries are effectively preparing for a military conflict with Russia by the threshold of 2030. The main task of the European Union and the North Atlantic Alliance is to inflict a strategic defeat on Russia.”

Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov issued similar warnings in his article titled “Ukraine, Europe, and Global Security.” Lavrov argued that Europe is attempting to buy time by exploring every possible avenue in order to complete its preparations for a potential conflict with Russia.

Lavrov also warned that current international tensions carry the risk of a direct military confrontation between NATO and Russia, stressing that such a scenario could rapidly escalate into a nuclear war.
