Trump: “We Gave Iran One Week Because of the Funeral”

U.S. President Donald Trump claimed that Iran wants to reach an agreement, saying Washington had given Tehran “one week” due to the state funeral held for Iran’s former leader, Ali Khamenei, who was killed in the U.S.-Israeli strikes.

Speaking about Iran, Trump said the Tehran government is eager to reach an agreement and added that the United States had “given them one week” because of the state funeral for Ali Khamenei.

Trump made the remarks during an event in the state of South Dakota marking the 250th anniversary of U.S. independence.

Referring to Ali Khamenei, whom he said was killed in the U.S. and Israeli strikes, Trump argued that Iran “very much wants” to make a deal.

Repeating his previous claim that “we obliterated Iran,” Trump stated:

“We gave them one week because of the funeral.”
