U.S. President Donald Trump joked about both his presidency and the future name of the White House Correspondents’ Dinner during the event. Trump said that Paramount Skydance CEO David Ellison had told him that next year’s event would be called the “Trump White House Correspondents’ Dinner.”
President Donald Trump made light of the rescheduling of the White House Correspondents’ Dinner—which had originally been postponed following the assassination attempt against him in April—and joked about his presidency during his remarks.
Referring to the dinner being held for the second time, Trump said, “The second time is always better,” adding, “Just like my presidency, the second time is always better. Always better. The third time will be even better.”
He then immediately added, “I’m just kidding.”
“Next Year It Will Bear My Name”
Trump also joked that Paramount Skydance CEO David Ellison had told him the next White House Correspondents’ Dinner would be renamed in his honor.
“Next year, they’re going to call it the Trump White House Correspondents’ Dinner,” Trump said.

Two days earlier, during a speech in the state of Georgia, Trump joked by saying, “I’m here to announce my candidacy,” before quickly adding, “I’m just kidding.”
