Alexis Tsipras announced the formation of a new political party called ELAS. According to Tsipras, ELAS, represented by the colors red and blue, will fight against injustices and wars dominating the world.
Speaking at Thision Square in the center of Athens, former Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras stated that he would continue his political career through the newly established Greek Left Alliance (ELAS) party.
Tsipras said that his new party would work to combat global injustice and conflicts.
Drawing attention to the ongoing conflicts around the world, Tsipras emphasized that Greece urgently needs an active and multidimensional foreign policy, instead of the “ally in the pocket” mentality that, according to him, puts the country at risk.
Tsipras listed his party’s promises as ensuring a dignified life, a strong democracy, a strong and fair economy, a social state model, and a Greece that protects rights while building bridges of peace.
Tsipras served as Prime Minister during Greece’s economic crisis between 2015 and 2019. He resigned from the Radical Left Coalition (SYRIZA), which he had led between 2009 and 2023, as well as from his parliamentary seat, in October 2025.
