Putin and Sharaa Deliver Message of Cooperation for Syria’s Future

Russian President Vladimir Putin and Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa discussed Moscow-Damascus relations and opportunities for future cooperation during a phone call. The situation regarding Syria’s unity, territorial integrity and sovereignty was also addressed.

According to a statement by the Kremlin, Putin and Sharaa exchanged views on the current state of relations between the two countries, as well as deepening political dialogue and developing future cooperation.

During the call, Putin reiterated Russia’s support for Syria’s unity, territorial integrity and sovereignty.

The statement noted that the two leaders expressed their readiness to further develop political contacts between Moscow and Damascus.

The leaders also emphasized the importance of the memorandum of understanding signed between Russia and Syria regarding the reorganization of the Hmeimim Air Base and the logistics facility in Tartus.

The conversation between Putin and Sharaa demonstrated that mutual contacts are continuing as Russia and Syria seek to shape their bilateral relations in the new era.
