Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Sunday that the fuel shortage in Russia is not at a critical level.
Speaking to Russian journalist Pavel Zarubin, Putin stated, “At the moment, we are observing a certain shortage, but it is not critical.”
The Russian leader also noted that in order to overcome the fuel shortage, Russia should accelerate repairs at fuel and energy facilities and begin fuel imports.
“All damaged facilities are being repaired quite quickly and are not causing problems of a critical nature. Everything is operating steadily and with enhanced security,” Putin added.
Putin also said that Russia would increase fuel supplies to Crimea. Speaking to Zarubin, he stated, “We will increase these supplies both by land and by sea. I am confident that this task will be resolved.” He emphasized that Crimea’s energy needs would be met.
“Russia Has Sufficient Air Defense Systems, but Supply Must Be Increased”
Putin also said that Russia possesses a sufficient number of air defense systems but needs to increase their production and delivery.
“In fact, we have all of these air defense systems. The issue is increasing the pace of their production and delivery to military units or for the protection of key infrastructure facilities,” Putin said, adding that the primary task is to rapidly and significantly expand the production of the most in-demand air defense systems.
The Russian president stressed that these systems must be continuously improved in line with operational requirements and the protection of relevant facilities, while also taking into account the systems used by the enemy.
“Contacts Regarding Ukraine Have Been Established Through Various Channels”
Responding to a question from Pavel Zarubin about a possible settlement in Ukraine, Putin said, “Yes, contacts do exist. They are being established through various directions and through various channels. I see nothing secret about this.”
Putin stated that Russia carefully considers every proposal coming from Ukraine. He added, “Given the catastrophic shortage of personnel in the Ukrainian armed forces, they seem to believe this could be their salvation. However, saving the Kyiv regime is not part of our plans.”
“No Agreement Was Signed with the United States in Anchorage”
Providing a brief summary of the Alaska summit, Putin confirmed that talks with the United States took place but did not result in a formal agreement.
Putin said that during his meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump in Anchorage, no agreement was signed regarding an end to the conflict in Ukraine. However, he noted that Russia accepted the compromise proposal that had been presented to them.
