It was announced that President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev accepted the invitation to participate in the Peace Council for Gaza established by U.S. President Donald Trump.
Presidential Press Secretary Ruslan Zheldibay said that Tokayev was among the first leaders invited to join the council and that Kazakhstan was asked to take part as a founding state.
Tokayev Responds by Letter
Zheldibay stated that Tokayev sent a letter to Trump thanking him and confirming Kazakhstan’s participation in the council. The letter reportedly emphasized Kazakhstan’s commitment to contributing to lasting peace in the Middle East.
Tokayev also reaffirmed the goal of strengthening trust among countries and contributing to global stability.
Process Had Not Been Made Public
Zheldibay said the invitation had not previously been disclosed to the public, explaining that this was due to waiting for an official announcement by the Trump administration. However, the information was shared as the process progressed.
It was noted that the Peace Council is expected to begin its work during the second phase of the agreement reached in October 2025 under the mediation of Egypt, Qatar, and the United States.
