Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said that Iran will support all decisions made by Palestinian leaders regarding the negotiations on Gaza during a phone call with Khalil al-Hayya, Chairman of Hamas’ Political Bureau.
During the phone conversation, Pezeshkian reiterated that Iran would back any decisions taken by Palestinian leaders throughout the negotiation process.
According to a written statement released by the Iranian Presidency, Pezeshkian congratulated al-Hayya on assuming his role as Chairman of Hamas’ Political Bureau. Describing the Palestinian issue as one of the Islamic world’s most important concerns and one of the fundamental principles of Iran’s foreign policy, Pezeshkian said Iran would continue to stand by the Palestinian people and provide support within its capabilities.
Praising al-Hayya for his role in coordinating among Palestinian factions, Pezeshkian also addressed the diplomatic efforts aimed at ending the hostilities in Gaza.
“Iran will support any measures, initiatives, and decisions taken by Palestinian leaders during the negotiation process,” Pezeshkian said.
He also stressed the importance of strengthening unity and solidarity among Islamic countries.
Al-Hayya: We Will Not Allow Israel to Achieve Through Diplomacy What It Failed to Achieve on the Battlefield
Hamas Political Bureau Chairman Khalil al-Hayya thanked Iran for its continued support for the Palestinian people. Describing Israel as the primary source of instability in the region, al-Hayya said Hamas is continuing negotiations in coordination with other Palestinian factions.
“We will not allow Israel to achieve through diplomacy what it failed to achieve on the battlefield,” al-Hayya stated.
The Hamas leader also called for benefiting from Iran’s experience during the negotiation process, adding that political and diplomatic initiatives, together with the struggle on the ground, would help the Palestinian people achieve their objectives.
On July 31, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that the “Peace Council” had reached a historic agreement regarding Hamas’ disarmament in Gaza and that Israel would withdraw from the territory once the disarmament process was completed.
Hamas had previously announced that, together with other Palestinian factions, it had responded positively to proposals presented by mediators regarding the second phase of a ceasefire agreement.
