Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan stated that Israel’s attacks targeting Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity constitute one of the most serious threats to regional stability, speaking at a joint press conference with his Syrian counterpart, Asaad Hassan al-Shaibani, in Ankara.
Following their meeting at the Turkish Foreign Ministry, Fidan said Syria had contributed to maintaining regional stability throughout the U.S./Israel–Iran war.
He emphasized that preserving Syria’s security and stability is a shared responsibility of all countries in the region, stressing that Israel’s attacks on Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity pose one of the gravest threats to the country’s stability.
Fidan also called on the international community to adopt a stronger stance against Israel’s occupation policies. He underscored the importance of exerting pressure to ensure compliance with the 1974 Disengagement Agreement and respect for Syria’s sovereignty.
“Netanyahu Has Once Again Shown That He Does Not Want Peace”
Referring to the situation in Gaza, Fidan said Israel continues its military operations despite the Gaza Peace Plan.
“A roadmap for the second phase of the Peace Plan had been agreed upon and was announced by U.S. President Donald Trump. Despite this agreement, Israel has continued its attacks, once again demonstrating that Netanyahu does not want peace.”
Fidan added that the Netanyahu government has also intensified what he described as “acts of terror” in the West Bank and Jerusalem.
