Bill Gates, whose name appears in newly released documents related to the Epstein case, has responded to the allegations. Gates said he regrets his meetings with Jeffrey Epstein and denied any wrongdoing. His former wife, Melinda French Gates, stated that the process left “painful” marks on their marriage.
Bill Gates, who was named in millions of pages of newly disclosed documents related to the Epstein case, has broken his silence following the allegations. Gates described his past meetings with Epstein as “a major mistake” and stressed that he has no connection to the accusations made against him.
Gates emphasized that the claims directed at him are not true.
Controversial allegations in three million documents
In the latest released documents, emails allegedly sent by financier Jeffrey Epstein to himself in 2013 included claims that Gates had “contracted illnesses after relationships with women.”
However, it was noted that these emails were written by Epstein himself and were never sent to third parties.
Gates: “Meeting him was a big mistake”
Speaking to Australia-based Nine News, Gates said:
“He knew a lot of wealthy people and claimed he could raise funds for global health projects. Looking back, I see that it was a dead end. Spending time with him was a big mistake.”
Gates also underlined that he only met Epstein at dinners, never visited his island, and had no involvement in any illegal activities.
“I regret every minute of it”
In his statement, Gates expressed regret over the time he spent with Epstein, saying:
“I regret every minute I spent with him. It was a mistake, and I apologize. I never went to the island, nor did I meet the people mentioned in the allegations. I had no involvement whatsoever in such behavior.”
Strong reaction from his spokesperson
Gates’ spokesperson had previously stated that the allegations were completely unfounded. The statement said, “These claims are fabrications by an individual with no credibility. The documents only reflect Epstein’s anger over his failure to establish a relationship with Gates.”
Melinda Gates: It brought back painful periods in my marriage
Gates’ former wife, Melinda French Gates, said in a podcast that the process had been difficult for her.
Speaking to U.S.-based NPR, Melinda Gates said, “These documents brought back painful periods in my marriage. I am glad to be away from this chaos.”
No official charges against the Microsoft founder
Authorities emphasized that there are no formal accusations against Gates in the testimonies of Epstein’s victims. Legal experts note that being named in the files alone does not constitute an allegation.
It was also reported that Gates maintains his meetings with Epstein were within the framework of donations and philanthropic activities.
