U.S. President Donald Trump announced that he will meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping in April. Speaking at a press conference in Washington, Trump emphasized that U.S.–China relations remain strong despite economic tensions. The meeting is considered critical in terms of trade, geopolitics, and global balances.
During a press conference held at the White House, Trump stated that he would meet with Xi Jinping in April. Describing the visit as an important turning point for bilateral relations, Trump said he was “looking forward to it.”
“Our Relations Are Very Good”
Trump argued that certain economic measures taken by the United States against China had not seriously affected bilateral ties. Stressing that his personal relationship with Xi Jinping remains strong, Trump said, “Right now, our relations with China are very good.”
Distance on Climate Cooperation
Addressing climate change during the press conference, Trump said there was no ongoing cooperation with China in this area. He noted that the Washington administration continues to act independently in environmental policy, adding that economic and strategic issues remain the priority.
Reciprocal Visits on the Agenda
Trump also announced that following his visit to China in April, Xi Jinping is expected to visit the United States later in the year. The reciprocal visits are seen as potentially opening a new chapter, particularly in trade agreements, technological competition, and global security matters.
