Israel Prepares for War: Military Placed on Alert

The Israeli military has reportedly been placed on alert due to possible U.S. strikes against Iran.

According to the Israeli news site Ynet, emergency services and the Home Front Command — the military unit responsible for civil defense — have been ordered to prepare for war.

These measures are said to be linked to a potential U.S. attack on Iran in which Israeli forces are also expected to take part.

Officials who attended the latest security consultation convened by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reportedly operated under the assumption that Israel could be targeted even if it does not directly participate in a U.S. operation.

Earlier, Axios reported, citing an unnamed adviser to U.S. President Donald Trump, that the United States could launch a military operation against Iran “sooner and on a larger scale than many believe.” The report suggested that such an operation could be carried out jointly with Israel.

The second round of negotiations regarding Iran’s nuclear program took place on February 17 in Geneva. Following the talks, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that progress had been made. The Iranian diplomat noted that Tehran and Washington would work on draft texts that could form the basis of a possible agreement.

U.S.–Iran Tensions

President Trump has demanded an agreement that would eliminate the possibility of Iran acquiring nuclear weapons. Otherwise, he threatened to carry out an attack on Iran far stronger than last year’s.

At the end of January, the United States deployed warships to the Gulf region, while Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth announced that additional forces would be stationed in the area.

U.S. media reported that Washington expects Tehran to take additional steps to restrict its nuclear program, including the complete halt of uranium enrichment and limitations on ballistic missile production.
