China Warns Trump: “Do Not Forget the Principle of Non-Interference in Internal Affairs”

China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has reacted to remarks made by U.S. President Donald Trump regarding a leadership change in Iran. Beijing emphasized that the selection of Iran’s new Supreme Leader is entirely an internal matter and reminded that “non-interference is a fundamental principle of international relations.”

The Chinese Foreign Ministry criticized the comments made by Trump about leadership developments in Iran and underlined the importance of respecting the principle of non-interference in the domestic affairs of states.

Guo said, “The selection of a new religious leader is a decision based on Iran’s constitution, and non-interference in internal affairs is a fundamental principle of international relations.”
