Iranian Media: Tehran Responds to U.S. Proposal on Its Own Terms, Calls It a “Third Deception”

According to Iran’s Tasnim News Agency, Tehran delivered its official response overnight to the United States’ 15-point proposal through intermediaries, presenting its own conditions. Iran is now awaiting Washington’s reply.

According to Tasnim News Agency, Iran sent its official response to the U.S. proposal late last night via mediators. A source speaking to the agency claimed that Tehran has now submitted its position and is waiting for a response from the other side.

The same source stated that Iran outlined a series of conditions in its response. These include the cessation of attacks and assassination operations, the establishment of concrete guarantees to prevent the recurrence of war, compensation for damages, and assurances for war reparations.

“Sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz is Iran’s Natural and Legal Right”

Iran reportedly emphasized that exercising its sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz is a “natural and legal right,” viewing it as a guarantee to ensure the other side fulfills its commitments. The statement noted that this position should be formally recognized.

It was also reported that the conditions presented by Iran differ from the demands previously conveyed during the second round of negotiations held in Geneva.

“Third Deception” Claim

The source further noted that Tehran is approaching Washington’s calls for negotiations with caution. According to this view, Iran considers the U.S. negotiation rhetoric as a “third deception attempt.”

The source outlined three alleged objectives behind the U.S. approach:

  • To project a peace-oriented image in the international community
  • To keep global oil prices low
  • To gain time for a possible ground operation

The source also argued that Iran had already harbored doubts about the United States’ commitment to agreements prior to the so-called “12-day war,” and that distrust toward Washington’s intentions has deepened further since then.

“Americans initiated conflict both during the 12-day war and the Ramadan war while negotiations were ongoing. This time as well, they are trying to lay the groundwork for a new offense under the guise of negotiations,” the source said.
