Ghana to Abolish Visa Requirements for All African Countries

Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama has announced that citizens of all African countries will be granted visa-free entry to Ghana, with the policy set to take effect on May 25.

Mahama made the announcement during the first official visit of Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa to Ghana, stating that visa requirements for travelers from across Africa would be lifted.

He noted that the new regulation will come into force on May 25, coinciding with Africa Day, emphasizing that the move aims to make intra-African travel more accessible.

Mahama also highlighted Ghana’s ambition to strengthen its leadership role in the Pan-African vision, adding that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs continues to work on securing additional visa exemption agreements for Ghanaian citizens.

He further stated that since last year, negotiations have been conducted for 23 new visa exemption agreements for Ghanaian nationals.
