A massive supertanker on the sanctions list violated the U.S. blockade and safely reached its destination.
An Iranian VLCC-class supertanker under U.S. sanctions entered Iranian territorial waters after crossing the high seas and the Strait of Hormuz.
The move, which undermined Washington’s blockade targeting Iran’s coasts, took place in the Strait of Hormuz—one of the most critical points of global maritime traffic.
The tanker, with a capacity of approximately 2 million barrels of crude oil, reached its destination without encountering any obstacles.
A second vessel also passed through Hormuz
According to the Fars News Agency, a second Iranian vessel also crossed the Strait of Hormuz while the U.S. naval blockade remains in place.
The ship, carrying food supplies, is reported to be heading toward the Imam Khomeini port in southwestern Iran.
Previously, U.S. officials had stated that no vessels would be allowed to move from the high seas toward Iran’s coastline, nor to anchor in Iranian waters or ports.
