Netanyahu’s Corruption Trial Hearing Postponed at the Last Minute

The hearing in the corruption case where Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was expected to testify has been postponed to a later date just hours before it was due to begin, following a request from the defense.

A critical development has occurred in the case in which Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is being tried on corruption charges. The hearing, at which Netanyahu was expected to give testimony, was postponed only hours before it was set to start.

According to Israel’s state broadcaster KAN, the decision to postpone was made upon the request of the defense. It was reported that the hearing was rescheduled after an application submitted overnight to the court by Netanyahu’s lawyer, Amit Haddad. No official explanation has been provided regarding the reason for the postponement.

On Trial for 6 Years

Netanyahu had been expected to appear before the judge today to testify. However, with this last-minute development, the hearing schedule has changed. A previous hearing planned for April had also been postponed on “security” grounds.

During the legal process, which has been ongoing for approximately six years, Netanyahu has appeared before the court a total of 81 times, most recently on April 28. The Israeli Prime Minister is being tried on charges of “bribery, fraud, and breach of trust” as part of three separate corruption investigations known as “Case 1000,” “Case 2000,” and “Case 4000.”

Meanwhile, it had emerged that former U.S. President Donald Trump sent a letter in November 2025 to Israeli President Isaac Herzog requesting that Netanyahu be pardoned. Although Netanyahu had previously stated that he would not seek a pardon, it was reported that he requested one from Herzog in the same month.
