Armenian Prime Minister Pashinyan Announces Election Victory

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has declared that his party won the parliamentary elections and will form a government on its own, even though only 10 percent of the votes have been counted so far. While the official election results are expected to be announced today, vote counting is still ongoing.

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that they had won the parliamentary elections while the counting process was still underway.

Pashinyan announced that his Civil Contract Party had emerged victorious in Armenia’s parliamentary elections and said:

“I would like to thank all my colleagues in the party. We worked day and night, and this victory belongs to history. This victory is for the Armenian people.”

Pashinyan also said that Armenia would continue its policy of closer ties with Europe, adding:

“We will maintain our membership in the Eurasian Economic Union. We will also continue to develop our relations with Russia.”

Declaring his victory, Prime Minister Pashinyan further remarked:

“We have established a very positive dynamic with Turkey. We need to maintain this momentum in order to achieve the final breakthrough.”

According to data from the Armenian Central Election Commission, there are 2,485,232 registered voters in the country.

A total of 2,005 polling stations were set up nationwide for the election, in which 18 different candidate lists are competing for seats in the parliament, which has at least 101 seats.
