Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov made important statements on a range of key issues, from NATO military activity near Russia’s borders to recent developments in Ukraine and the elections in Armenia.
Emphasizing that Russia is taking all necessary steps to ensure its security, Peskov sharply criticized both the Ukrainian government and the West.
‘NATO Infrastructure Has Been Moving Toward Our Borders for Decades’
Commenting on NATO military exercises conducted near Russia’s borders, Peskov said the situation was not new and was being closely monitored by Moscow.
The Kremlin spokesperson stated:
“The movement of NATO’s military infrastructure toward our borders has been an ongoing process for decades. Naturally, this process is being monitored by our Ministry of Defense with the utmost attention and scrutiny. Russia is taking all necessary measures to guarantee its own security.”
‘It Is Difficult to Imagine Negotiations Amid Kyiv’s Terrorist Actions’
Addressing the Ukraine crisis and prospects for peace talks, Peskov said that Moscow currently sees no basis for negotiations due to Kyiv’s policies.
Arguing that the Ukrainian government is undermining efforts toward a peaceful settlement, he said:
“Under the shadow of Kyiv’s terrorist actions, it is extremely difficult to imagine the possibility of negotiations today. Kyiv is doing everything it can to slow down the process of reaching a peaceful resolution in Ukraine.”
Peskov also described an attack on a passenger train operating on the Moscow–Simferopol (Crimea) route as “a barbaric act by the Kyiv regime.”
The Kremlin spokesperson further announced that Russian authorities are working on a comprehensive package of measures to address fuel supply and security-related challenges in Crimea.
Armenian Elections
Peskov also said that the Kremlin is closely monitoring developments surrounding the elections in Armenia.
“The Kremlin is awaiting the announcement of the final results of the elections in Armenia. We are carefully recording and reviewing all reports and statements, including numerous allegations of violations,” he said.
