Azerbaijan’s National Assembly has decided to suspend all relations with the European Parliament (EP), citing the institution’s “anti-Azerbaijani activities.”
In the resolution adopted by the National Assembly, it was stated that the EP does not support open and constructive dialogue with Azerbaijan and has demonstrated a “destructive stance.”
The text noted that the EP has disregarded the norms of international law and the concept of justice in its activities, emphasizing that the institution remained “indifferent” to Armenia’s 30-year occupation of Azerbaijani territories, the destruction of settlements and cultural heritage, ethnic cleansing, and the displacement of more than one million people.
It was also stated that the EU–Azerbaijan Parliamentary Cooperation Committee and the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly have been turned into instruments of pressure and interference against Azerbaijan.
The National Assembly’s decision further claimed that the EP has come under the influence of lobbying groups and has evolved into an anti-Azerbaijani and Islamophobic body.
