Flights at the airport in Finland’s capital, Helsinki, were suspended due to a suspected unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) threat. Fighter jets were deployed to ensure flight safety.
The airport in Helsinki was closed to air traffic for three hours because of a suspicious object believed to be a drone.
Due to potential threats to flight safety, Finland scrambled fighter jets. After authorities concluded that the threat had passed, the airport was reopened to flights shortly afterward.
“AUTHORITIES HAVE TAKEN ACTION”
Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo said in a statement on the social media platform X, “Authorities have taken action. The Defense Forces have increased their surveillance and response capabilities. I urge everyone to follow official announcements.”
In a statement from Finland’s Ministry of the Interior, officials said the drone threat had ended, adding, “Citizens can safely go to their schools and workplaces.”
