EU’s ‘Russia’ Allegations Anger China

China has reacted strongly to allegations from the European Union that Chinese military instructors provided training to Russian soldiers.

The Chinese government firmly rejected claims made by EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas, who alleged that Chinese military trainers had been instructing Russian forces involved in the conflict in Ukraine.

Speaking at a press briefing in Beijing, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian addressed the allegations.

Lin stated that the claims were completely unfounded and described such remarks as an attempt to smear China. The spokesperson characterized the statements coming from the EU as “nothing short of slander.”

Reiterating China’s position, Lin Jian concluded by saying: “Such statements are baseless accusations that serve no purpose other than trying to discredit China.”
