Indian External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar stated that during his conversation with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, he reiterated New Delhi’s strong protest over U.S. attacks in the Gulf of Oman that resulted in the deaths of three Indian sailors.
Jaishankar said he strongly protested the U.S. attacks targeting vessels carrying Indian seafarers in the Gulf of Oman.
In a statement posted on social media, Jaishankar said:
“I spoke this evening with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio. I reiterated India’s strong protest regarding the U.S. Navy’s attacks in the Gulf that led to the deaths of three Indian sailors.”
He added that there could be no justification for such actions against commercial vessels.
Earlier, in connection with the incident, India’s Ministry of External Affairs summoned Jason Meeks, the U.S. Chargé d’Affaires in New Delhi, and conveyed a strong diplomatic protest regarding the attacks.
