Syrian President Ahmed Sharaa announced that his country has entered a new era following the United States’ official removal of Syria from the list of “state sponsors of terrorism.”
In a statement following the decision, Sharaa said that Syria, after years of suffering, was turning toward a process of development, reconstruction and rebuilding.
Congratulating the Syrian people on the historic decision, Sharaa thanked U.S. President Donald Trump. He also expressed his gratitude to the countries and friends that have stood by Syria and the Syrian people.
In his statement, Sharaa said, “I congratulate the Syrian people on Syria’s official removal from the list of state sponsors of terrorism. I thank President Donald Trump for this historic decision and express my gratitude to all our brothers and friends who have stood by Syria and the Syrian people.”
In a video message, the Syrian president also prayed to God to grant him the strength to serve his country and its people.
Following the U.S. decision, Sharaa’s remarks were seen as a message that the Damascus administration would focus more heavily in the coming period on economic recovery, reconstruction and development efforts.
