At least eight people were killed after molten iron spilled onto workers at a steel plant in India’s Andhra Pradesh state.
The accident occurred at a steel factory in Visakhapatnam when molten iron, heated to approximately 1,600 degrees Celsius and being transported by crane to another section of the facility, spilled onto workers below.
An unnamed official told the Press Trust of India (PTI) that, according to initial reports, eight people lost their lives and six others were injured in the incident.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in a statement posted on the social media platform X that he was deeply saddened by the tragedy.
Modi extended his condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and wished a speedy recovery to those injured.
